Thurso, Lochaber and Lochaber-Partie-Ouest

Thurso is a town in the Papineau RCM, on the north shore of the Ottawa River, at the mouth of the Blanche River. The townships of Lochaber and Lochaber-Partie-Ouest lie on the outskirts of the town. Our team, based in L'Ange-Gardien, comes to your home for testing, installation and maintenance.

City water or private well?

The Town of Thurso produces its drinking water at its own municipal plant. If your home is connected, the water is treated and disinfected before it reaches you. A chlorine taste or scale deposits can then be corrected where the water enters the house or under the sink: see our guide to city tap water.

If your home is on a well, you are responsible for your water quality. Quebec recommends bacteria testing in spring and fall at an accredited lab. Two neighbouring wells can produce very different water: only a test at your address tells you which treatment fits.

Installation, maintenance and salt delivery

Before installing anything, we check the water pressure or the well's flow rate, the space near the water entry and the drain for backwashing. After installation, the same team handles water softener maintenance and your maintenance plan. Home salt delivery is provided by our partner DistribusSel. If an existing system no longer works well, see our repair and troubleshooting.

Questions about water in Thurso and Lochaber

Do you come to Thurso and Lochaber?

Yes. An EUREk specialist comes to Thurso, Lochaber and Lochaber-Partie-Ouest for testing, installation and maintenance. Our team is based in L'Ange-Gardien.

I'm on Thurso city water: do I need treatment?

Not necessarily. City water is treated by the Town. A carbon filter or water softener makes sense if you notice a chlorine taste, scale or another issue; a test at your home settles it.

Is the in-home water test really free?

Yes. An EUREk specialist tests your water at home and gives you a written recommendation and quote at no cost. Bacteria testing of a well is done separately by an accredited lab.

How often should I test my well?

Quebec recommends bacteria testing in spring and fall. Clear water is not necessarily safe: bacteria are invisible.

Can water softener salt be delivered to my home?

Yes, through our partner DistribusSel, which delivers in the Outaouais. Enter your postal code in the delivery request: availability, price and date are confirmed with them.
